David and Goliath: How God Offers Hope for Our Fears, Anxiety, and Stress

David’s relationship with the Lord was central to every area of his life and integral to his identity. Many times, growing up, you may feel like you had to perform to get validation or love. What does that do? Well, you really don't know who you are in Christ trying to meet everyone's needs.
Satan robs through lies. He gets you to believe your identity is making others happy? Are you tired of trying to measure up? Isn't it time to find peace with yourself? God accepts you just the way you are.
David didn't conform to the world when it came to dressing for battle. He realized it was not going to work for him.
Earlier in the Psalm, he declares, “apart from You I have no good thing,” rightfully recognizing the Lord as the ultimate source of every blessing (16:2). David cherished the Giver more than His gifts and experienced deep, abiding joy in His presence (16:11).
Intimacy with Him diminishes anxiety in me.
King David’s intimacy with the Lord did not prevent him from ever feeling anxious, but it did help rob anxiety of its power.
1 John 4:18 says, "perfect love (HIs presence) cast out fear.
Maintaining a close walk with God was a way to combat his fear, ease his worried spirit, and keep anxiety not robbing him.
David knew he was accepted by God. He didn't have to prove anything to the Lord or anyone else. His foundation was established with trust and faith.
1 Peter 5:7 "Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you."
Psalms 55:22 "Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved."
Matthew 11:28 "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest."
David trusted God to cast all His cares to the Lord. He trusted He could beat Goliath and did.
As a result, David, a man after God’s own heart, felt God’s nearness at his “right hand” and remained unshakable in the face of anxiety.
What can you do?
1. Know it is already done and that you don't have to continue to prove to God for HIs love.
2. Build a relationship during prayer to learn to hear His voice.*
3. Trust the Lord that He has your back and cast your cares and worries to Him.
4. Go in faith to conquer the goliaths in your life.
Your faith and trust will grow once you start hearing His voice and know it is Him.
